Several driving under the influence arrests were made on Sunday by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Around 2:15 Sunday morning, deputies pulled over a vehicle for speeding along the West Andrew Johnson Highway near Cresthaven Lane. 20-year-old Edgar Huerta of Knoxville told police he did not have a driver license and said he had one beer. An open beer bottle and several other beers were found on the back floor of the vehicle, and Huerta registered a .109 on the breathalyzer at the Greene County Detention Center.
Just before 7:00 Sunday morning, deputies went to the 400 block of Edens Road on the report of a crash. 24-year-old Hanna Luttrell of the Chuckey Highway reportedly crashed into a lamppost and admitted to driving too fast. Luttrell said she had two beers, and a case of beer was found inside the vehicle. Luttrell had minor injuries but refused treatment, and registered a .211 on the breathalyzer.
Around 10:30 Sunday night, 50-year-old Norma Jean Abercrombie of Greenville, South Carolina was in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Ram pickup stopped along Interstate 81 that had been reported driving recklessly about an hour earlier near Bulls Gap. A case of beer was found inside the vehicle, and she performed poorly on sobriety tests.
