Several Driving Under the Influences charges were made so far this weekend.

Police arrived at the parking lot of Big Time Beverage around 10:30 Saturday morning, after receiving a call of a possible drunk driver. A witness told officers the Toyota had run up on the curb in front of Lowes and struck several cones in front of Sonic. Officers spoke with the driver, Dana Fuoco of Andrew Johnson Highway, who performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest.

Around 1:45 Saturday police were called to see about a male on the Asheville Highway threatening people in a parking lot with a screwdriver. The suspect, identified as Willard Cutshaw of West Vann Road, struck a passing car with a holiday figurine causing an estimated $1000 in damage to the front of the vehicle. Cutshaw was talking out of his head and officers placed him under arrest for Public Intoxication and Vandalism.

A woman was reported to Police around 4:45 Saturday afternoon, sitting in the road talking to herself near Sevier Avenue and Cypress Street. She was identified as Laura Carter of Cox Road and was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication and Obstructing a Highway.

###

At just after 1:00 this morning, police noticed a vehicle speeding, going 67 in a 40 mile-per-hour zone. According to the report, officers attempted to stop the vehicle with lights and siren, but the Honda Civic continued traveling on East Andrew Johnson Highway, through the four-way-stop at North Main Street and Baileyton Highway, onto Doughty Avenue, and right onto North Irish Street. The car turned into the parking lot of Hill Street Church and attempted to turn around to apparently leave again, but was blocked by the police car.

Officers made contact with the driver and could allegedly smell the odor of alcohol. The driver was identified as Gloria Dickson of North Irish Street. Dickson showed clues of impairment during the field sobriety test, and was arrested for driving under the influence and speeding.

###

At around 3:00 AM this morning, police observed a Chevrolet S.U.V. that crossed the fog line and was having trouble maintaining their lane. While speaking to the driver. Anthony Head of Jonesborough, officers reportedly saw a beer can in the cup holder of the vehicle. Head had slurred speech and difficulty answering questions. Head showed multiple signs of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest. Head was charged with driving under the influence, Open Container Law, Driving on a Suspended License, and Failure of the Financial Responsibility Law.
