A pursuit that began near the Chuckey Highway and continued into Washington County this morning after midnight lead to the arrest of a Greeneville man.
According to the Greene County Sheriff Department’s report, a vehicle was seen make an abrupt turn in the middle of the Chuckey Highway and sped up in attempt to evade the deputy. The driver Justin McInturff was traveling at high rates of speed, reportedly running each stop sign he encountered. McInturff was having a hard time maintaining his lane of travel, according to the deputy, as he drove on the Andrew Johnson Highway and several back roads in Washington County.
While evading the suspect allegedly hit a deer, causing major damage to the vehicle. He eventually made a left onto Tommy Campbell Road before turning into a driveway and reportedly fleeing on foot, ignoring several commands in the process. K9 Narco was deployed and helped with the arrest after a bite was given, according to the report. McInturff was detained and first taken to the Greeneville Community Hospital before being transported to the Greene County Detention Center.
During a vehicle search drug paraphernalia was found, less than a gram of a substance believed to be Methamphetamine, as well as other items. He was given several charges including Manufacture, Delivery, Sale or Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, Evading Arrest, Reckless Endangerment without a Weapon, Bodily Harm, and Resisting Stop, Frisk, Halt, Arrest or Search.
