Seven Greene County Volunteer Fire Department, Rescue Squad Named Grant Winners

Over $385,000 Of The $1.3 Million In A Seven County Area Comes To Greene County

Seven Greene County Volunteer Fire Departments and the Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad have received over  $385,000 in grant money from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office.

That’s Kevin Walters with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Grants are used to help fund projects, purchase equipment and train personnel.

The Debusk Volunteer Fire Department was the top grant recipient in the seven county area with $118,600.

Gary Morrison is the Debusk Chief and says the funds are already being spent.

The eight Greene County agencies received just shy of $400,000 in grant funds, nearly a fourth of the nearly $1.3 million handed out Thursday.

Debusk VFD $118,600

St. James VFD received $20,000

Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department received $70,000.

The Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department received grant funds totaling $39,135

and the Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad $28,040.

A luncheon to honor the grant winners was held today at the spacious Morristown Landing facility off Highway 66 in Hamblen County.  More than $1.3 million in grants was presented was presented to departments and squads serving Greene, Hamblen, Jefferson, Cocke, Grainger, Hancock and Claiborne counties during the luncheon.
