A Mosheim man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon following an incident earlier in the day. Deputies responded around 12:30 Sunday morning to a simple assault call at an Asheville Highway residence. The female victim reported the man she identified as Heath Starnes came to the residence drunk, grabbed her and threw her against the wall, then caused damage to a bed and door before leaving. As deputies were on the scene, a yellow Mustang driven by Starnes drove by. Deputies then pursued the vehicle on the Asheville Highway, where the driver reportedly passed multiple cars at high rates of speed. The pursuit continued to the South Greene Volunteer Fire Department when authorities lost sight of the vehicle and terminated pursuit. Knowing the Snake Road residence where he lived, deputies arrived there around 12:45 Sunday afternoon, where Starnes was located and surrendered. He made his initial court appearance Monday on charges of Domestic Assault, Felony Evading Arrest and Felony Reckless Endangerment.
