A crowd of just under two hundred gathered at the General Morgan Inn Saturday evening for the Lincoln Day Dinner.
Senator Marsha Blackburn was the keynote speaker. She was introduced by Knoxville Mayor Glenn Jacobs.
Blackburn was presented a framed Greene County flag by Mayor Kevin Morrison, who thanked her for visiting the area October 18th to survey damage after the flooding in September.
The annual Lincoln Day Dinner is the largest fund raiser of the year by the Greene County Republican Women.
Security was tight during the event Saturday. Protesters outside the General Morgan Inn voiced their opposition to the current administration prior to the dinner.
The prior day, a vocal crowd gathered at Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger’s “Coffee with your Congresswoman” event in Blountville Friday morning. Hecklers protested inside the Ron Ramsey Regional Agriculture Center as she addressed the gathering. At least one person was escorted out of the facility.
