Secretary of State Tre Hargett is again encouraging Tennessee residents to consider becoming a poll worker for the State and Federal General Elections on November 5, 2024.
Secretary Hargett states that a robust voter turnout is anticipated and there is always a need for poll workers, especially during a presidential election cycle.
Poll workers conduct various tasks such as greeting voters, answering questions, explaining how to cast a ballot, and counting votes at their community locations. Poll workers are paid for their work and required training sessions.
The requirements to work at polling locations are:
- Minimum age of 16
- Anyone 18 and above must be registered in the county of where they hope to serve
- Must be able to read and write in the English Language
- Cannot be a candidate or close relative of candidate
- Cannot be supervised by a county or municipal elected official on the ballot
Everyone is encouraged to consider being a poll worker for the State and Federal General Election coming up.
