The Greene County Register of Deeds Office opened Monday morning at the Greene County Administration Center, located at 401 Takoma Avenue, marking its first day of business at the new location.
The office was closed on Thursday and Friday as personnel worked to move the office from the Greene County Courthouse Annex to the new Administration Center in Suite 105 on the first floor. The office will resumed normal business hours on Monday, and their phone number will remain 423-798-1727.
However, while most services were on offer when the office reopened Monday, the deed room is not yet open as some issues with the deeds books and rollers in the office are being worked out.
Register of Deeds Karen Collins-Ottinger said she was glad to be in the new space.
“The new office is more spacious and allows for things to be more organized. We at the office are happy to be in the new space and excited to continue to serve the people of Greene County,” Ottinger said. “It’s a very nice space.”
Ottinger asked members of the public to be patient as she and her staff adjust to the new office, and work to get the deed room prepared.
“Please be patient with us. We still have some things to do as we settle in and get the deed books out of boxes and organized,” Ottinger said.
JOINING OTHER COUNTY OFFICES
The Register of Deeds Office and the Property Assessor’s Office have now joined the Greene County Building and Zoning Office and County Clerk’s Office at the new County Administration Center. Building and Zoning and the County Clerk’s Office moved to the facility in October 2025. The building was formerly Takoma Hospital, which closed in 2019.
TRUSTEE REMAINS AT ANNEX
The Greene County Trustee’s Office will remain at its current location, 204 N. Cutler Street, and will not relocate until later in April. Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison said recently that county officials were targeting April 9-10 as a time to move the Trustee’s Office.
