The Greene County Commission met Monday evening an approved a resolution to accept an application from the Greene County Recovery Court for a request of grant funds from the Opioid Abatement Council.
The resolution was added during the meeting because the application needed to be submitted by midnight that day. County Mayor Kevin Morrison said the Recovery Court was requesting additional grant funding, so a motion was made to accept the application. During the meeting new audio was tested due to issues with the community being able to listen in during the meetings.
Efforts are being made after Commissioner Brad Peters suggested working on the audio during the Budget and Finance meeting earlier this month. Comments have been made by some residents that the audio is hard to hear and some suggest it’s done on purpose because commissioners allegedly don’t want anyone to hear what they are saying. Peters is hoping with some adjustments people will be able to tune and hear more clearly.
Also approved during the meeting was granting the Greene County/Greeneville Emergency Medical Services the exclusive franchise to operate emergency and non-emergency ambulance service in Greene County. Funds for the purchase of two vehicles and equipment for the Animal Control Department was approved. Funds are to not exceed more than $127,250.
Moreover, the resolution to remove Crow Fly Lane from the official Greene County Road List was pulled due all the paperwork required not being received. That will be added to next month’s agenda.
