According to the National Weather Service, a warming trend this week will continue to lead to snow melt across much of the area which will saturate the ground.
For late Tuesday through Thursday evening, periods of rain, some heavy, will move across the region. The heaviest rainfall will be mainly along and west of interstate 75. The main impact will be the potential of river and stream flooding, roadway flooding, and flooding of low-lying areas. Mudslides are also be possible.
Besides the flooding, windy conditions are expected across the Mountains and adjacent foothills of far east Tennessee for Wednesday. Wind gusts up to 45 mph are possible.
Another storm system will move across the Tennessee valley and southern Appalachians this weekend bringing wide spread rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Strong winds are also possible across the far east Tennessee Mountains and foothills on Saturday.
