The Greene County Property Assessor’s Office will be opening at the Greene County Administration Center, located at 401 Takoma Avenue, on Wednesday morning.
The office was closed on Monday and Tuesday as personnel worked to move the office from the Greene County Courthouse Annex to the new Administration Center in Suite 106 on the first floor. The office will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, and their phone number will remain 423-798-1738.
Chief Deputy Property Assessor Shana Justis, and Deputy Assessor Twyla Trett could be found unpacking and setting up the new space at the former Takoma Hospital building on Tuesday afternoon.
Trett has worked in the office for 32 years, and Justis has served in the office for 26 years. Both said they felt the new space would benefit the Property Assessor’s Office.
“There is a lot more storage and space here for us,” Justis said.
Trett said the office was a space that could be grown into. She pointed out that the facility was in good shape, which would allow records and documents to be stored safely and securely.
Recently, a leak at the Annex damaged the Property Assessor’s Office and some of the records stored there. That will not be an issue at the new facility.
REGISTER OF DEEDS
The Greene County Register of Deeds Office will be temporarily closed on Thursday and Friday as it relocates to Suite 105 on the first floor of the new Greene County Administration Center. The office will reopen for normal operations on Monday.
JOINING OTHER COUNTY OFFICES
The Property Assessor’s Office and Register of Deeds Office are joining the Greene County Building and Zoning Office and County Clerk’s Office at the new County Administration Center. Building and Zoning and the County Clerk’s Office moved to the facility in October 2025
TRUSTEE
The Greene County Trustee’s Office will remain at its current location, 204 N. Cutler Street, and will not relocate until later in April. Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison said Monday night at the Greene County Republican Party meeting that county officials were targeting April 9-10 as a time to move the Trustee’s Office.
