Greeneville Planning Director Randy Davenport gave updates on various projects in town at the Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission meeting yesterday.

The Depot Street Project is almost completed. Davenport says they are aiming for significant completion by July 1st. Progress has been made at the Old Long John Silver’s Restaurant site on the Andrew Johnson Highway and developers will be building “Scooter’s Coffee Drive-thru.”

D.R. Horton developments are moving fast according to Davenport, including the Johnson Farms Subdivision on North Rufe Taylor Road. Building Inspector Bert Seay said over 30 houses already have permits with about 20 under construction. Planning Director Davenport said in an upcoming meeting, developers will ask for approval of another section of the development, where there will be about 50 to 75 more homes.

He added construction for the White House Road development is quickly approaching according to the developers, and he’s received a mass-grading plan. The plan was submitted to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for approval for storm water permits and notice of coverage. He believes they could start moving dirt by the summer.

Additionally, Davenport said there are several other developments and plans could possibly be submitted for approval in an upcoming meeting.
