The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a false pretense yesterday afternoon on Clay Way in Greeneville.
The victim told deputies she received a phone call from an alleged “Texas Border Patrol Agent.” The suspect stated they contacted her due to a package that was intercepted with her name on it containing a large amount of cash, illegal drugs, and several bankcards. The caller then requested the victim’s name, state of residence, and bank name.
The victim did provide the suspect her with her information but did not disclose any more details. It was unknown at the time of the report, if the bank account was compromised.
