The annual Christmas In The Park drive-thru at Hardin Park was viewed by over 60,000 this past holiday season.
The event, organized by Greeneville Parks and Recreation, was open from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM for 25 days in December.
Parks and Recreation Director Butch Patterson, during an update Thursday, reported to board members that 20,184 vehicles passed through the park during that time. Averaging three per car, over 60,000 persons would have viewed the lights in 2024.
Surprisingly he said, the busiest night was Christmas Eve, when 1558 drove through, nearly double the usual 800+ average on any other given night.
Donations to the event were between six and seven thousand dollars for the season. There was a recommendation that a suggested donation amount, although not required, might be attached to the donation receptacle.
