Over 10,000 people attended the Iris Festival last weekend which was a big success despite the weather concern. According to Jeff Taylor, President at the Greene County Partnership, there were between 10,000 to 13,000 people downtown on Saturday and Sunday. He said that’s worth nearly $1.3M in two days and hits the Greene County economy.
People attended all the way from Germany, Italy, Philippines, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Hawaii, Florida, Texas, and Washington State. Taylor said this year there were over 100 runners and walkers and over 300 cars by the end of the Sundown on Depot Event.
He thanked several people for their help and contribution to the festival including EMA Director Heather Sipe, Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt and his team, the Greeneville Fire and Police Department, Public Works Department, Greeneville Energy Authority, the Rescue Squad, and the Town of Greeneville.
