An Old Shiloh Road man spoke with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to report a fraud attempt after he tried selling his motorcycle online.
The victim said he listed his motorcycle on Craigslist for $18,500.A potential buyer contacted him and was reportedly sending him a check for the bike. The suspect sent two checks, one in the amount of $40,000 and another for $23,000. He advised the victim to deposit the checks, pay for the shipping, and then asked him to return the remaining funds.
The victim told deputies the checks sent were fake and that he did not lose out on any money. Deputies recommended he report the scam to the FBI.
