One man was charged with aggravated assault Friday morning.
Around 5:00 AM Friday, police were called regarding a man yelling in the parking lot of Food City on the East Andrew Johnson Highway that a woman was being assaulted.
According to the female victim, an argument started with another male, identified as Larry Scism, in the woods next to the fairgrounds, and then continued behind Food City. The victim reported Scism had held her down and hit her with sticks. Scism also reportedly had a crossbow and had pointed it at the victim and another male who had tried to break up the fight, threatening to kill them both.
At that time, the male ran to Food City and yelled for someone to call 911.
The female victim’s injuries were checked by EMS but she did not go to the hospital. Officers searched the area for Larry Scism, were unable to locate him and took out warrants for his arrest. Later, police spotted Scism walking on Gass Drive and took him into custody without issue. His court date is set for January 3.
