One person was injured in an accident on Tuesday morning on the Newport Highway near Kiser Loop.
The wreck occurred shortly after 7:30 am when a Nissan Sentra driven by 18-year-old Leandra Gosnell was traveling eastbound and attempted to turn left onto Kiser Loop. She reportedly turned into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 44-year-old Leonard Jackson, which was traveling westbound. The two vehicles then collided head-on in the westbound lane.
Gosnell was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Jackson was not injured in the crash.
Gosnell was charged with what the Tennessee Highway Patrol report described as driving on roadways laned for traffic.
