A business on the 10000 block of Newport Highway reported someone broke into the store and stole several items inside including nearly $5,000 in currency.
The theft occurred sometime between Sunday and Monday evening. According to the report, the owner was checking on the store and noticed the side door was kicked in. A computer, three coin-pushing slot machines, and all the change inside were stolen. The suspect also reportedly stole a cashbox out of a machine.
An estimated $5,000 in currency was taken. Items stolen totaled around $4,500. Damage was estimated at $1,000. There were no suspects at the time of the report. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft.
