Improvements to Baileyton City Park were recently completed through a Community Block Development Grant, and the upgrades have been well-received by the local community.
A follow up meeting on the project was held Tuesday afternoon at Baileyton Town Hall as is required to close out the grant project.
The meeting provided members of the public an opportunity to comment on the effectiveness of the recent upgrades at the park if desired. Only a couple members of the public spoke during the meeting, but both said they appreciated the improvements at the park.
Upgrades to Baileyton City Park made through the grant included $110,000 in new playground equipment and $150,000 in paving. The paving removed all gravel surfaces from the park, including its entryway and parking area, and improved accessibility.

Baileyton Board of Mayor and Aldermen member Sherrie Ottinger said she had only heard positive feedback about the park improvements.

Officials also stated that the park’s pavilions are being used more now since the parking area has been paved, which has made the pavilions more accessible due to the paved lot connecting to existing sidewalks.
The park now features playground equipment that includes multiple slides, swings, monkey bars and other features. The popular walking trail that follows the border of the park remains as well. The park also feature the Baileyton Veterans Memorial.
The park is open to the public daily.
