Nearly six months since flood waters from Hurricane Helene struck Greene and surrounding counties, AIDNET Greene County President Jeff Idell said today the rebuild of homes in Greene County is at 70 to 75% complete.
At the biweekly meeting of the AIDNET Board at the Partnership building , Wendy Peay reported today there are 27 open cases, including another one opened this week. The property owner said they wanted to wait for others in more need that they were before reaching out for assistance.
While all money given to AIDNET Greene County stays local, the local group has been assisting other counties with resources of assistance such as a group from Springfield which was recommended to assist Washington County in their flood rebuild efforts. The group began construction of three homes off Highway 81 in Washington County last Thursday and less than 100 hours later, the homes are under roof and nearly ready for the homeowners to move back into.
Applications are still being accepted for assistance. At this time applications are not able to be taken online.
