A North Carolina woman was taken into custody early this morning, charged with drug violations and theft of a deadly weapon.
Police followed up on a report just before midnight Friday of a woman at the 200 block of North Irish Street allegedly in possession of a stolen gun.
Officers found the woman, identified as Heather Justice Madrid, out of Hendersonville, North Carolina, standing on the sidewalk. Officers asked if she had any weapons and she reportedly told them she had marijuana in her pocket. According to the report, after she was taken into custody, Justice Madrid told officers she had hid a gun in a dumpster. She showed police where the dumpster was on East Andrew Johnson Highway, where a Springfield handgun was found. A records check showed the gun had been stolen earlier that day in Greeneville.
During a search, police also reportedly found 4 Adderall pills, and Justice Madrid was charged with Schedule Two and Six Drug Violations, theft under $2500, and Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon.
