Local and state officials spent much of the day Thursday clearing up accident scenes from earlier in the day, and getting roads back in shape following snow and ice Thursday morning.
On some of the backroads this morning, brides and otherwise shaded areas during the daylight may still have black ice this morning so please drive with extra caution.
Cars sliding off the road was a normal sight Thursday morning and driving remains hazardous across Greene County.
Multi-car pile-ups were reported on Shiloh Road, Chuckey Pike, Warrensburg Road, and Jones Bridge Road. Well over a dozen cars wrecked in O’Dell Curve, at the intersection with Jim Fox Road. As one car slid off the road, other cars came around the curve and added to the pile-up.
One caller reported multiple cars and trucks off the roadway on Chuckey Pike, and TDOT reports multiple accidents on Interstate 81.
