A Mississippi man was arrested in Greene County Saturday for vandalism and public intoxication.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to Mammoth Ridge Campground on Lonesome Pine Trail around 7:15 PM on the report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance.
The man, identified as Charlie Baltzell of Collinsville, Mississippi, was reportedly seen driving recklessly through the campground. When he had been asked to slow down, he spun his tires, throwing rocks everywhere. He also allegedly approached a man’s vehicle at the campground and made a dent in it by hitting the hood multiple times. According to the report, he also threatened another person with his dogs.
When deputies spoke with Baltzell, he denied the allegations and said it was all hearsay. He reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and became argumentative with deputies.
He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for vandalism and public intoxication.
