A Greene County woman, who a SILVER ALERT was issued for Wednesday, was found Thursday morning near her Rolling Hills Road home, but passed away at Greeneville Community Hospital.
81-year-old Mary Sue Barham was located around 11:00 Thursday morning about 1/4 of a mile from her home in a marshy, wooded tree-lined area. EMS transported her to Greeneville Community Hospital.
According to a press release issued Thursday afternoon, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was notified that Barham passed away at the hospital. She was transported to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at ETSU for an official cause of death. No foul play is suspected.
First Responders began searching for Barham after family members reported her missing from her home on Rolling Hills Road on Wednesday. After searching into dark Wednesday night, the search resumed shortly before 8:00 am Thursday.
Agencies that assisted included the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Region I Rescue Squads, and the area volunteer fire departments.
