A mobile home at 9161 McDonald Road in Mohawk was heavily damaged by fire last night, but the lone occupant was able to escape in his wheelchair unharmed.
9-1-1 dispatched the McDonald, Midway and Mosheim Volunteer Fire Departments to the Kenneth Hogan residence at 9:30 pm. Hogan told investigating deputies he was asleep on the coach when he was awakened by the smell of smoke. He then got into his wheelchair and exited the home. McDonald Fire Chief Matthew Greenlee told Radio Greeneville News this morning some motorists saw the smoke, called 9-1-1 and assisted Hogan.
Greenlee reports the fire was deemed electrical in nature.
