Mark Britton was elected Greene County Road Superintendent on Tuesday night, defeating Gary “Squirrel” Rector according to unofficial election results.
Britton defeated Rector by 2,025 votes. Britton received 5,041 votes to Rector’s 3,016.

Britton’s experience includes 15 years at Summers Taylor and a couple of years with Weems Excavating and Paving. He is currently the paving supervisor at the Greene County Highway Department.
Britton is a 1984 graduate of North Greene. He has been with the Highway Department the past nine years.
Britton will be a first time officeholder.
Current Road Superintendent Kevin Swatsell did not run for reelection after serving in the role for the past eight years.
