A person called police to the 400 block of Fairgrounds Road Friday around 4:00 PM.
The complainent stated a man was sitting on the porch and they wanted him removed from the property.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the man, Sheldon Johnson, who was holding a knife. He was told to put the knife down and Johnson complied. Officers informed Johnson he was not wanted on the property, and that he had warrants for Violation of Probation and Theft over $2500.
When Johnson was told to put his hands behind back, he ran off toward Snapps Ferry Road. Officers caught up to him and he was ordered to put his hands behind his back at taser point. Johnson however, continued to back away and had to be forced down and detained.
A search found a container with 19 pills where Johnson had been sitting. He was taken to a local hospital and charged for the warrants and for Possession of Schedule 3 and 4 drugs, as well as resisting arrest.
