David Allen Dabbs plead guilty last week to charges relating to the death of 16 year-old Danielle Owens. Owens went missing on December 11, 2022 and was not seen since. Her body was located lying in the middle of a cornfield on Doty Chapel Road in February of 2023.
33 year-old Dabbs plead guilty in court for Criminally Negligent Homicide, Aggravated Assault, two counts of False Reports, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Contributing to Unruly Behavior of a Child. He has been sentenced to four years in prison and must serve 30% of his sentence before being eligible for early release.
Dabbs was Owens’ boyfriend at the time, according to family members. Owens was reportedly a juvenile runaway and already had a case with the Department of Children Services. Her body was found about a mile away from Dabbs’ house, which was her last known location. Dabbs was indicted in July 2023 by the Greene County Grand Jury in relation to her death.
According to court documents, Owens died from a significant amount of drugs. The presentment states Dabbs failed to alert authorities of Owens location when questioned on her whereabouts on December 11, 2022, while knowing she was a runaway and under the influence of drug intoxication, which resulted in her death.
He was charged with aggravated assault due to reportedly strangling Owens on December 11th, 2022, and child neglect by placing Owens in danger by exposing her to Methamphetamine. His four-year sentence is in addition to his current sentencing for drug related charges.
