A man was killed in an accident involving a dump truck on the 107 Cutoff near the Asheville Highway shortly before 8:00 this morning.
A Ford F-150 driven by 48-year-old Charles Rathbone was turning onto the 107 Cutoff from Plowshare Road. According to the accident report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Rathbone failed to yield the right of way to a dump truck driven by 39-year-old Jason Worrall that was traveling southbound on the 107 Cutoff. The dump truck then struck the driver’s side door of Rathbone’s truck.
Rathbone was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Worrall was not injured in the wreck.
