A Greeneville man was arrested for DUI after allegedly driving into a yard at an Afton residence on Friday.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 300 block of Jud Neal Loop around 7:45 PM after an intoxicated man reportedly drove into the yard and was growling and screaming.
When the deputy arrived on the scene, the man, later identified as William Morris of Mountain Loop, was behind the wheel screaming with the vehicle still in drive. He was given commands to put the vehicle in park and turn it off. Morris was reportedly incoherent and would not follow commands. The deputy reached into the vehicle and engaged the emergency brake. He then unbuckled Morris and removed him from the vehicle.
According to the report, Morris had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and was very unsteady on his feet. Field sobriety tests were attempted, but he was too intoxicated to perform them safely.
He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for DUI. He reportedly refused a blood draw and a search warrant was obtained. Morris was then additionally charged with violation of implied consent.
