A man was charged with DUI on Monday morning after reportedly buying beer at a Greeneville convenience store.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department responded to the Shell gas station on Tusculum Boulevard around 10:00 AM. An employee called to report a man, identified as Charles Carter of Old Tusculum Road, stumbling inside the store while buying beer.
Carter got into a pickup truck in the parking lot, but had trouble starting it. The officer approached the truck and asked Carter if he had anything to drink. He replied that he had a few.
He then performed poorly on a field sobriety test. Carter’s driver license is revoked with an alcohol interlock device restriction. The pickup truck he was driving did not have an interlock device installed on it.
Carter was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for DUI and driving on a revoked license.
