A Greeneville man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was found passed out behind the wheel of an SUV.
Police went to the Quick Stop Market on West Bernard Avenue around 1:20 Thursday and found 57-year-old Christopher Gillespie of the 70 Bypass slumped behind the wheel of a gold Dodge Journey. After Gillespie was awakened by officers, he reportedly offered them a dollar bill when asked to show his driver license.
Gillespie was unable to follow instructions for the field sobriety test and gave consent to search the SUV, where officers found an empty bottle of vodka and nearly-empty can of beer. Also found were 3.1 grams of marijuana inside an empty cigarette pack.
Gillespie was charged with DUI, driving on a revoked license and possession of a schedule 6 drug and taken to the Greene County Detention Center.
