A man was arrested this past weekend after officers received a call regarding a motor vehicle theft.
According to the report from the Mosheim Police Department, James Scarberry of Russellville, was in the passenger seat of vehicle with the female victim. The victim was driving along I-81 when she had to pull over and leave the vehicle, due to Scarberry allegedly beating her. The suspect at that time broke the victim’s phone, took almost $400 out of her wallet, and took the car to Tha Gap Bar and Grill in Bulls Gap.
Officers arrived at the bar and found the suspect. He was patted down, and the broken phone and a bag of marijuana were found on him. Scarberry made statements to officers saying he would shoot them in the head. He was charged with domestic assault, reckless endangerment, vandalism, motor vehicle theft, and retaliation of past action.
