A Greeneville man was charged with embezzlement after using a company credit card to make unauthorized purchases.
The co-owner of Package Express Center on CCU Boulevard reported Tuesday to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department that Mark Beck of Wilson Hill Road was given a company credit card to put gas in a vehicle to pick someone up from the airport about a month ago and never returned it. She learned Beck had used the credit card to make $8,000 worth of unauthorized gift card purchases.
The victim confronted Beck and said she wanted the gift cards he bought and the receipts. He went to his camper, which is on the property, and returned with a box containing gift cards and receipts. She asked if that was all of them and he said there were more in his truck in Johnson City. He later returned with a bag containing more gift cards and receipts.
Beck then reportedly walked back out into the shop and started working again. The victim called the police. Beck was trespassed from the property and later arrested for theft between $2,500 and $10,000.
