Police responded to a report of a male who had jumped out of a vehicle and was unconscious in the roadway, Saturday.
Officers arrived at Myrtle and Carson Streets around 8:45 Saturday night, and found a man lying unresponsive in the road. EMS was on the scene and transported the man to a nearby landing zone where he was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center.
During the investigation, officers spoke with Matthew Bailey of Jonesborough, who — according to the report — said he was driving his car when his passenger said: “Do you dare me to jump out of this vehicle?” Bailey reportedly said it was a few seconds later when the man opened to car door and jumped.
Allegedly, Bailey admitted that alcohol may have been involved. He participated in standardized field sobriety tests and performed poorly. He was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence.
