A woman has been scammed of nearly $1.2 M after she had a man who supposedly owned a Tree Service do work for her on her property.

The woman from Lonesome Pine Trail, had work done around July 2020 on her property by the suspect known as Nathan Armstrong, the owner and operator of Armstrong Tree Service. She also discussed having some excavation work conducted, at which time the suspect stated that he was able to conduct these services as well. Over the next year, the suspect moved dirt from one area of the property to another, never really completing any tasks. The suspect would state more money was required for different reasons and received almost $600,000 from the victim.

In July of 2021, a member of suspect Nathan Armstrong’s team, Fisher White, approached her and informed her that he believed Armstrong was intentionally ripping her off. White stated she was taken advantage and knew this because he saw some of the charges she received and discovered that she was being severely overcharged and lied to.

At this time the victim states that she fired suspect Nathan Armstrong and hired Fisher White and his company, White’s Excavating. Immediately upon beginning work, White stated the victim would have to supply him with $100,000 for him to begin the work, due to the cost of renting equipment. The victim attempted to pay the suspect a lump sum covering the cost, however, the suspect refused and instead demanded that the victim supply him with $9,900 in checks, to equal the amount.

This continued for several months and more money was requested from the victim stating there were various issues discovered around the property, but still not completing any of the originally agreed-upon tasks. Eventually a neighbor caught on and has been helping the victim. According to the report an attempt was made to recover receipts. Recently the victim and neighbor stated they confronted the suspect in person and accused him of falsely suggesting that work needed to be conducted and for charging the victim for services that had not been rendered.

The victim states that she then asked the suspect for a final monetary agreement for the completion of all the work started, at which time the suspect told her he needed another $435,000 dollars to finish the jobs and left the residence.

This week the suspects were contacted, but both phone numbers were blocked and texts were not answered. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department conducted a report and photographs were taken of a large portion of the financial documents regarding the incident and placed into the report.
