The September just ended was the fifth hottest all time for the area according to the National Weather Service Office in Morristown.
Meteorologist Brandon Wasilewski told Radio Greeneville News the average temperature for the month trailed only four other years (1933, 2019,1970 and 2018) as the hottest on record since at least 1933. That’s the year the NWS first began consistently tracking year to year stats. The 2018 average temperature is the hottest September in recent history.
