Juvenile Court Magistrate and Greeneville attorney David Leonard passed away Tuesday at the age of 57.
A gathering of friends will be held Wednesday, February 28 from 5-7 pm at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton.
Today some of those who worked with David gave us thoughts on their friend:
Criminal Court Clerk Whitney Collins –
“Dave was a good man. I had the privilege to work with him since I started and he was well respected and loved by the legal community here at the courthouse.”
Sessions Judge Kenneth Bailey, Jr. –
“So very sad. He was so well respected and loved by the legal community.”
Former Judge Tom Wright –
“I remember when Dave Leonard first came to Greeneville and “hung his shingle” to begin practicing law. He very quickly gained the respect of the bar and immense success as an attorney soon followed.
His service to Greene County as the Juvenile Court Magistrate has been of inestimable value to our community. He has protected and provided for countless children as Magistrate, at great personal sacrifice to his thriving law practice. Greene County owes David Leonard a debt of gratitude for his service.
Beyond all of his service and accomplishments as an attorney, he was a tremendous friend and a committed husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by the courts, community, friends and family.”
