Greeneville Energy Authority reports many businesses being closed more than usual for the holiday, and late day storms, were probably contributing factors in not setting power usage records this past weekend.
But GEA Operations Manager Robert Keller told Radio Greeneville News Monday peak usage so far this summer occurred last Wednesday, July 1 with 185 megawatts recorded at 2 PM that day.
That was during several days of a Heat Advisory issued for the area last week. The advisory had been extended through Saturday when high temperatures were in the 90s and the heat index was at or above 100 for several days.
TVA also limited use by some of its largest users across some of the regions it serves in an effort to limit power usage during the hottest days so far this summer across the south.
