It is Election Day with polls open locally from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm in Greeneville and Greene County.
CONTESTED LOCAL RACES
While the major office holders in Greene County are all unopposed after winning in the primaries, there are still contested races in four of the seven county commission districts, the first, second, third and sixth. The three remaining candidates in the fourth, fifth and seventh districts are unopposed for the three available spots which make up each district.
Nancy Wilson is also opposed for her seat as District 9 State Executive Committeewoman by Rebecca Becky Skelton.
CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE PART II-DISTRICT 3
The most contested race locally for August is the Circuit Court Judge Part II-District 3 showdown between Crystal Jessee and Mark Stapleton. Aaron Chapman is also on the ballot but withdrew his candidacy after the deadline to have his name removed.
Greene, Hancock, Hawkins and Hamblen County make up District 3.
GUBERNATORIAL RACE
Outside of the local races, the Republican primary for Governor has been largely debated on radio, social and television ads.
Marsha Blackburn , Monty Fritts and John Rose are on the Republican ballot, while five democrats are also seeking nomination. Thirteen independents will join the August primary winners on the November ballot.
