The investigation for a structure fire on Middle Creek Road is continuing after a man was seen running away yesterday night.
A barn on the property that appeared to be in bad shape according to an officer, was on fire upon arrival. The fire seemed to have started in the back of the building. The officer spoke with the complainant who lives near and stated they saw flames and went to investigate. He then saw a man running from behind the barn into the woods. He previously spoke with the owner of the barn after he saw people prowling around the structure with flashlights. With permission from the owner he ran them off.
According to the report, the male who ran after the fire started was described as average build and height. Deputies checked the wooded area but were unable to locate anyone due to the lack of visibility at night. Several Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined at the time of the report.
