In Sullivan County, what was initially reported as a simple motor vehicle accident, eventually led to first degree murder charges.

Authorities responded to a call around 5:40 am on Thursday of a disturbance involving a man in a vehicle that crashed in a yard. The man involved was knocking on doors of residents in the immediate area.   When officers arrived, they took 54 year old Kevin Justis on 4000 Glenn Alpine Road into custody.  The car involved in the wreck on Potato Hill Road was registered to the Justis address on Glen Alpine Road.   Officers responded to that location and found a woman’s lifeless body outside in the yard.  Investigation revealed that 59 year old Lori Lane had been struck by a vehicle, believed to be the one Justis was driving.

Justis faces ten charges , including First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felony Reckless Endangerment, Possession of Firearm During Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Driving on Revoked License and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Drug Offense.   Justis was also charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
