The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has issued a press release regarding the fatal fire first reported yesterday on WGRV.com. It states in part:
Around 1:00 AM Saturday, December 13, Greene County 911 received a call of a structure fire at an occupied home on Goddard Dr. The caller stated he was awakened by a loud noise and found the house full of smoke and a fire in his brother’s upstairs bedroom.
First responders from Tusculum, Camp Creek, Debusk, & Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Departments, along with the Greeneville City Fire Department, responded to the scene. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control and discovered the body of Scott Hollenbeck, age 66, in his bedroom.
Fire Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department continue their examination into the cause of the fire, which at this time remains undetermined.
The deceased was sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy.
