A Morristown man reported forgery to the Greeneville Police Department on Tuesday after hiring a man earlier this year to build a house in Greene County.
The victim said he hired the suspect as a contractor to build a house in January. The victim said he recently asked for a copy of his building permit at the Greene County Annex. The suspect allegedly forged the victim’s name and signature on a Homeowners Building Permit and Affidavit. The papers stated the homeowner is conducting the work himself and is acting as the contractor. The victim said he never filed that sort of permit, nor did he ever plan on acting as the contractor on the build.
The victim was advised to contact the state department and report the suspect for not having the correct permits.
