The first mountain snowfall of the season is expected tonight.
Areas at or above 3,500 feet can expect a half an inch to one inch of snow to fall at the highest elevations. Temperatures will drop into the 20’s .
Greene County mountains are likely to only see a dusting, while the Great Smoky Mountains and the Roan Highland Mountains are more likely to see the first snow.
Grey Stone Mountain is just over 3,000 feet high while Viking mountain is over 4,800 feet high.
National Weather Service predicts that later today rain will change into snow and sleet that will last through tonight. Trails may become covered in ice and snow.
