A High Wind Warning will be in effect beginning at 5 PM this afternoon until 4 AM Wednesday morning in portions of the higher elevations and foothills.
South winds will be 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected. Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult. People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches.
A few strong to severe storms will be possible Thursday afternoon and evening. Damaging straight-line winds will be the main threat with the possibility of a few tornadoes. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Also, potential exists for repeated heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flooding.
