According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, clusters of showers and thunderstorms are arriving late this afternoon and early this evening from Middle Tennessee. Storms could be strong to possibly severe, mainly over the Plateau and southeast Tennessee.
A Level One marginal risk for a severe threat can be expected with hail up to 1 inch as well as strong, damaging thunderstorm wind gusts up to 60 mph. A low-end tornado threat can also not be totally ruled out.
According to the Greeneville/Greene County Emergency Management Agency, most locations will see on and off showers with some rumbles of thunder in the afternoon with a 30-70% chance throughout the day and into tonight.
While details aren’t certain, there could be some strong to possibly some severe thunderstorms again on Friday. Additionally, flooding from heavy downpours and/or training of storms over the same area could also become a concern.
