UPDATE: The Flood Advisory and Flood Watch have been canceled.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area on this Wednesday includes a flood watch until 8 pm and localized flash flooding possible until 4 pm today.
The National Weather Service Office in Morristown says heavy rainfall rates and localized flooding will be possible today. Training of storms across the same areas could lead to flash flooding of streams, flooding of low-lying areas, and roadway flooding.
A Flood Watch is in effect until 8 this evening locally as excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. The potential for slow moving or repeated rounds of efficient
rainfall producing showers and thunderstorms may lead to instances of flash flooding.
Localized Flash Flooding is possible locally until 4 this afternoon for the local area as a stream of tropical moisture will move north from the Gulf into
the Tennessee valley and southern Appalachians through today. Periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms can be expected. Due
to the abundant moisture these storms will be capable of producing excessive rainfall rates. If the storms move across the same locations, localized flash flooding is possible.
Persons living near streams need stay alert for the potential of rapid water rise and flash flooding. Localized flooding of low lying areas and roadway flooding are possible.
