A group of individuals concerned about the division in our country will be gathering to read the Constitution. Their hopes are it will educate the public on what is in the historic document, and to celebrate the freedoms and laws that it contains.
This event encourages participants of all ages and political affiliations to join in reading various sections of the Constitution. The reading will be Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM. The group will gather at the home of Margaret Johnson Patterson Bartlett at 107 East McKee Street. Bartlett was the great-granddaughter of President Andrew Johnson. She donated her house to the Daughters of the American Revolution up on her death in 1992. In the event of rain, the event will be held in the gym at Crescent School, 615 West Main Street.
This gathering aims to foster a deeper understanding of the rights and responsibilities enshrined in the document that serves as the foundation of American democracy. Organizers hope that the event will spark meaningful discussions and deeper understanding about the Constitution’s relevance in contemporary society, but the event is not for discussion, only to read and hear the Constitution.
